Alumni Potluck Birthday Party!

Devin Calambro(NM), Christina Ross(NM), Emma Skallerup(NM), and Rachana Haliyur(bursar) pose for a picture during the potluck lunch.

Sisters, new members and alumni came together to celebrate our chapter's birthday and all of our birthdays in the coming year. We met on campus and each sister brought a lunch food item to share. After eating and socializing, we decorated individual cakes and sang happy birthday. We also shared stories of Gamma Pi tradition.

Our chapter wanted to reach out to alumni and create a new tradtion. We like to celebrate our indiviuality but birthdays are a common thing we all share. Recognizing and appreciating sisters is an important part of creating a stable and supportive environment for actives, alumni, and new members.

By discussing our chapter's tradition, it allows new members to get a sense of who we are and our chapter's purpose. Having events that celebrate each other are just as important as the business aspect of the chapter.

We are very excited to hold this event again! Gamma Pi's birthday is tomorrow. Diokete Hupsala and Happy Birthday!

Life Long Learning Event

We had a Life Long Learning Event last week were sisters met to share about their majors and what they plan to do after graduation. They also dicussed their cultural backgrounds and how that influenced their decisions in picking a career and major. Sisters were paired with a study buddy as part of our scholarship program. The study buddies presented at the same time because they have similar majors.

New members helped facilitate discussion by prompting sisters with questions and talking about why Life Long Learning is a core value of Phi Sigma Sigma. This activity was a way for sisters to share their goals with the chapter. We wanted to promote learning, not only about different types of majors and careers, but about each other.

It was also a great opprotunity for new members to get to know activite sisters better and find out more information of how the chapter runs. They were able to step up as leaders and share with the group in a safe environment. Attendees gained a greater knowledge of who sisters are, their cultural backgrounds, and what they want to do with their futures. New members learned about how events within the chapter run and leadership roles they can take.

Gamma Pi is always seeking new ways to learn and live our core values. Great job, Beta Sigma, for your great efforts!

Plant Ceremony and Life Long Learning

On Sunday, we had the plant ceremony for our sapphire sisters. This is a chapter tradition to signify the growing relationship between big and little. They have been working hard to communicate the values of Phi Sigma Sigma.

We are having a Life Long Learning Event on Wednesday to talk about sister's goals and aspirations after college. Stay tuned for a post about that!

Heather Jones - Recruitment Extraordinaire

Heather Jones is the Vice President of Recruitment for PHA. She did an amazing job and had the highest quota of potential members in over 5 years. Despite having two of her main events canceled due to weather, Heather managed to help chapters schedule new events and give them the resources they needed to run a successful recruitment. She was also an integral part in helping potential members through recruitment by keeping them informed about chapter events and training efficient Rho Gammas. We are very lucky to have her be apart of our own chapter and were happy to share her talents with the entire campus.
Congratulations on your achievement and thanks for all your hard work!
UPDATE:
Heather actually received Greek Woman of the Month for her accomplishments as VP of Recruitment!
