Congrats, Maria!

Maria Satyshur (SDC/ parent and alumni relations chair) has been busy this semester! She was inducted into Sigma Alpha Lambda, Sigma Tau Delta, and Omicron Delta Kappa. She also has three internships this summer. She's currently the Intern for Neustadt Creative Marketing who deal with UMBC's marketing campaign. She'll be using her research about the College.Be. website and admissions statistics for her Senior Capstone Project next year. She will be the Marketing/Sales Intern for Urbanite Magazine and the Marketing Intern for Light Industries (an IT solutions firm) during the summer.
The sisters of the Gamma Pi chapter are always aiming higher and higher and take pride in the fact that being in a sorority does not define them.

Stephanie Layne (sisterhood/sunshine chair) will be receiving an award for "excellent academic achievement in the field of sociology" this Friday at the Alpha Kappa Delta Sociology Honor Society and Award Ceremony. Congrats, Steph! We are always proud to call you our sister.

Mother Pinning

Maria Satyshur (SDC/ parent and alumni relations chair), Angelica Demiris, Hannah Dier (Archon), Heather Jones, Liz Walters (PHA Delegate/fundraising co-chair), and Christina Ross all pinned their female relatives.

Gamma Pi held a mother pinning ritual on Saturday. Six sisters pinned their mothers, aunts, grandmothers, and sisters. By opening the ritual to female relatives other than mothers, we are able to share our love and dedication to Phi Sig and attributing our abilities to the support of our family members. In the Fall, the Gamma Pi chapter plans to hold a Father ritual that has recently been implemented by other chapters to show our appreciation as well.

These women have shown us how to be strong and determined women. They are examples of what a Phi Sig should be and we will forever cherish them.

Basket Bingo!

Stephanie Layne (sisterhood/sunshine chair) brought her mother, father, grandfather, and gradmother with her and they made out like bandits! Her grandmother won a basket. Her mother and father both won door prizes. Steph won a door prize and a Smyth pearl bracelet from the raffle!

Sam Sadtler, Mellisa Bernero, Natasha Hussain, and Kerry Hickerson Hite were just a few alum who made their way out to support the active sisters of Gamma Pi.

Gamma Pi had an extremely successful 2nd annual Basket Bingo on Friday at the Lodge in Catonsville. The sisters raised over $2000. Proceeds will be going to Foundation which donates to the National Kidney Foundation. The sister put hours of time and dedication into making this a wonderful event. We had lovely baskets made with donations from local businesses, family members, and sisters. A lot of alum and families came out to support our sisters and we are more than grateful for their efforts! There were also a lot of members of the greek community present including sister of Phi Mu and Alpha Sigma Alpha as well as brothers of Pi Kappa Phi and Lambda Chi Alpha.
Bingo is always reliably fun and we are so happy to be able to donate such a large amount to a great cause. Shout out to the fundraising committee, Liz Walters, and Heather Jones for really spearheading the event. We couldn't have done it with out you!

Congrats, Gabby!

Gamma Pi alumni, Gabrielle Wyatt has recently been accepted into Harvard! She will be joining the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in the Fall to pursue a Masters in Public Policy, with an education policy concentration. She received the Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Fellowship (because she became a PPIA fellow this past year, attending the Ford School of Public Policy over the summer), which covers full tuition, housing, and provides a stipend every semester for both years of her program. She also received a fellowship from the Taubman Center for State and Local Policy, which is a research center at the Kennedy School and also covers full tuition. As a Taubman fellow, she will have research opportunities with their program for education policy and governance, and she will write a policy paper for a nonprofit or government agency during the final semester of her program.

She also recently received the MD's Top 100 Women's Circle of Excellence Scholarship from the Daily Record. It is a $3000 scholarship and she was nominated by Dr. Freeman Hrabowski . The ceremony is May 3 and on May 7, the Daily Record will print an article about her!

Congratulations, Gabby and keep aiming high!
